Election Day Game Plan
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Tomorrow is not a day to “try to fit voting in.” We’re making the case for a real Election Day plan: block the time, expect delays, and treat your vote like it can decide the outcome, because in dozens of races it truly can. We’ve been watching contests where the margin on paper is under 1,000 votes, and that kind of reality changes the way you think about turnout, church engagement, and what it means to do your civic duty with clarity and purpose.
We also dig into why early voting headlines are so often misleading. Party registration doesn’t guarantee party loyalty, and high early turnout doesn’t tell you who is actually winning. From Michigan examples to Texas concerns, we talk through how voters can break from old patterns and why you shouldn’t let confident pundit talk either inflate your hopes or crush your resolve. Then we share the election night “tells” we’re watching first, especially several US Senate races that can signal whether the night is trending better or worse than expected, while keeping expectations grounded.
From there, we get practical. Our “pray and act” checklist includes specific prayers for mercy, integrity, and exposure of corruption, plus tangible steps you can take during the day: text the people you know will vote, then reach out to the ones you’re not sure about, and don’t wait until after work to cast your own ballot. We also point you to voter guide tools to help you and your friends make informed choices fast. If you found this helpful, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a nudge, and leave a review. What’s your “one more thing” you’re doing before polls close?
Election Day Planning Starts Now
SPEAKER_01It's the intersection of faith and culture. It's the WallBuilder show, taking on the hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical, and constitutional perspective. Rick Green here with David Barton and Tim Barton. One day left. Election day is tomorrow. So it is time to make plans, folks. Don't just leave it to chance tomorrow, thinking, oh, you know, I'll just I'll stop by on my way to work or surely I'll have time after I get on the fork. No, no, no. Block the time right now, tomorrow. Put it on the calendar. Plan for an hour just in case, and get scheduled to go vote tomorrow. It's huge. It's time. David, Tim, this is the big day coming up. A lot at stake. A lot of really close races. So it's not like, you know, we're not going to see a lot of blowouts all over the country. There's some really close races out there, and it all depends on turnout tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02Now, Rick, I'm not going to say that we're not going to see blowouts. We have some really close races that could be blowouts in our favor if our folks Show up. That's true. That's true. They might be blowouts. And so I'm looking, there are so many races that we were talking last week and what we were doing trapping with Faith Wins and Chad and I, all these meetings. There's 21 house races right now that Show on paper to be within a thousand votes. It'll be decided by a thousand votes. But it could be that they're going to be 40,000 vote difference because everybody shows up. What we're seeing is really interesting. Um in so many states, the early voting is way above presidential levels. I think there's 27 states that are voting above normal on early voting. Um there's a lot of excitement. Now, I can't tell and anybody who says, oh, 48% are Democrats and and 42% are Republican. You don't know that. Even if you're in a state where they have registered, you're registered with Republican and Democrat voting, you don't know if that person voted for the party or if it's like Michigan where the the the former Democrat sheriff there is calling on them not to vote for the Democrat. You just don't know. So when you see numbers like that, that means absolutely nothing until the election happens.
SPEAKER_00Well, and Dad, to your point, when you're saying we don't know who's actually voting, what you mean is we don't know who they're voting for. That's right, that's right. Again, the indication is you have a if if people vote for the team that they're registered with, um, then it you you might have an indication. But to your point, I mean, literally, we saw yesterday uh that the the lady uh Stevens who had run uh as a Democrat trying to become the U.S. Senator from Michigan, she loses to El Sayed and she goes with Mike Rogers to a church and endorses Mike Rogers, the Republican in Michigan. And of course, then it was all over CNN and MS now, um, you know, doing all this kind of coverage. And I I think it was a chair of the Democrats uh party there in Michigan that said, hey, she's not a Democrat.
Why Party Labels Mislead
SPEAKER_00We like we removed her, she'll never be a Democrat again, taking that position. But all of this, uh again, Dad, kind of to your point, is just because we know what somebody's political affiliation has been up to this point, it doesn't mean that that's how they're gonna vote. There's been a lot of man in the street interviews I've seen actually in Michigan specifically is a great example where there was uh I've seen a lot of different interviews with different black individuals in Michigan that said, Look, I've been a Democrat my whole life, but I'm I'm voting Republican for the first time because I cannot support El Sayed. All of that again to say is we really don't know just because maybe you can track who these individuals have registered with in the party. We don't necessarily know who they're voting for. And by the way, I could say the same thing that's a great concern to me in Texas that that I think there are some Republicans that are gonna vote for Talo Rico because they look at Ken Paxton and they go, Man, I don't I don't really like this guy because he had an affair on his wife. So I'm gonna vote for Talo Rico because he seems like a nice guy. And we've mentioned it before. This is just one of the most short-sighted, intellectually disconnected arguments you can make because you're identifying for the people that say we don't like Ken Paxton because he had an affair on his wife, cheated on his wife, which by the way, like obviously we should all oppose those kinds of things. This is not an endorsement or to you know throw the blanket over and ignore that. No, but you are missing the bigger picture. Ken Paxton is not advocating that people do that. Ken Paxton is not advocating and promoting unbiblical and ungodly and evil things. Whereas when you look at James Talarico and he's like, look, we need to support trans kids and trans kids need abortion care too. And you go down the list of positions that he holds, one of these candidates is advocating it and promoting, trying to expand and legalize things that we would call morally depraved and evil. And one candidate, even though he's done some morally depraved and evil things in his life, he's actually opposing that from a legal legislative standpoint. So those two things are not the same. However, again, backing up, I think there are some registered Republicans in Texas that are voting for Taler Rico. And so this is again to your bigger point, Dad, this is something where when we're looking at who these people are that are showing up to early vote, you don't really know how they're voting. And so it's very uncertain of how this is going to fall down. But Dad, I think to your point, uh a moment ago, I think there's a very good chance that if the church shows up and all three of us have been on the road for months and months and months trying to do things to encourage Christians and pastors to get involved, to get off the sidelines. And it used to be we would say, go vote your values. Now, I don't encourage people to vote their values if we haven't helped remind them what biblical values are. Uh, there's a lot of people that are supporting things that are not biblical that think they are being biblical in their mindset. And so what we would say is, look, as a Christian, you need to understand what the Bible promotes, what the Bible calls good, what the Bible calls evil, and as
Character Scandals Versus Policy Stakes
SPEAKER_00Christians, where we should stand and then get involved in this process. But we have been all over the nation, literally for months, uh encouraging people up at this moment. And if Christians Show up, if and and tomorrow it's thought that there could be a massive, a massive swell of Republicans that Show up. We we know that generally speaking, on election day, Republicans Show up uh, and at least 50%, generally speaking, of Republicans vote on election day. There's usually not that high of a turnout for Democrats. So Republicans are usually usually playing catch-up on election day, uh, and Democrats are trying to have enough people Show up to maintain a lead to help them win. All that to say is if Christians Show up and vote like I think they will, it really could be a significant win for Republicans in the Senate, where I think they could optimistically, you could win up to 55 seats in the Senate and in the House, it could be it could be over 220 uh confidently that I think Republicans could win again if Christians Show up, and I think I think tomorrow that is going to happen. So I'm very optimistic about it. Again, it always depends on who shows up. It depends on if we're supporting biblical values. And if if we have helped people, and I say we collectively, Christians, uh pastors, if we've helped people understand what that looks like, but I do think that is is a a not just possibility, I think it's a likelihood for tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02Well, Tim, just to kind of echo some of what you're saying, I don't know what the outcome is going to be tomorrow, but regardless of what it's gonna be tomorrow, I've seen really good things in this election that I don't think I've seen in my lifetime. Uh yesterday I was at in a church in one of the congressional districts that's considered to be one of the tidest races in the nation out of the 435. And I was in a uh again, a mega church. I I think they'd run 10,000, something of the sort. And the pastor got up and said, Look, guys, he said, I'm telling you, do not vote Democrat at all. This is not the party of your parents, it's not the party of your grandparents. This is the party that wants to trans your kids and do the and he went through all the stuff. He said, This this is not this is not the choice used to have with Democrats. I don't know the last time I've heard a megapastor say something like that, but then we look at you you've been on with Josh Howard and Tim, and he's he's out there out front on elections and politics. And there's pastors like Alan Jackson, who has such a great national ministry and a huge church in Nashville. I mean, they're out taking sides, and and these pastors of mega churches, that hasn't been the stuff we've seen in previous years from hardly anybody, except maybe a John Hagee kind of a pastor in San Antonio. But other than that, we hadn't seen much. But what what I'm seeing this cycle, regardless of how it turns out tomorrow, the church is starting apparently
Pastors Start Connecting The Dots
SPEAKER_02to wake up and think that civic engagement and the direction our culture heads maybe is something the church should be interested in, which it should be. And I consider that already a win, just what we're seeing at this point.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, guys, I think uh even, you know, even my pastor yesterday morning was talking about he thinks pastors waking up across the country is going to be a critical factor in the election. Uh absolutely true. And and I do think even, you know, connecting the dots and being very specific. I remember all the way back in 08 being at a mega church in Florida and talking about the difference in Obama and McCain just on the issue of abortion, where McCain was, you know, 100% uh pro-life rating and and Obama was a 0% pro-life rating, and and you know, vote your conscience based on that. And uh, and and and and some people were offended that we even mentioned their names. And I remember a pastor saying he just did, you know, he didn't think we needed to name names. And then just a few months after that, we had a meeting at the ranch, David, and you might remember that, and there was a mega pastor there, and he said, I didn't think I needed to connect the dots. I thought they would they would recognize if I was preaching the values, they would know which party to vote for, which candidate to vote for. And now I know I need to connect the dots. So I think there's been more of that connecting of the dots and more pastors being willing to do that uh for
What To Watch On Election Night
SPEAKER_01sure. But guys, we're gonna take a break. When we come back, I'd love for y'all to um kind of point out what the indicators are we should watch for on Tuesday. Tuesday night, of course, we'll be doing coverage on Flashpoint and on uh Victory Channel. And David, you were the first one 10 years ago in 2016 to call the race for for Donald Trump. I mean, out of all the major newscasts and programs out there, you were the first one that night uh to call it for President Trump. So I'm really curious what you're gonna be looking for in which particular races you think are gonna be key and uh and what we need to tell people to do tomorrow, because we're gonna have 12 hours of polls being open from seven to seven in most states. What should people be doing? Should they be calling friends and families? So when we come back, let's talk predictions, what to look for, and let's talk what should we be doing during the day on election day. Stay with us, folks. We'll be right back on the WallBuilders show. Hey friends, Rick Green for the WallBuilders show. Encouraging you to share the program with friends and family and listen to it on the podcasts that are out there. There's so many options out there for you to listen to in the car or from home or while you're working out. You've got Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Castbox. I mean, there's so many options, and we just want to make sure you know we've worked hard to get it out there and make it available for you on all those different apps. Everybody's got their favorite app, so choose your particular app. And if it's not on there yet, email us, radio at wallbuilders.com, and let us know about your favorite podcast app. And we'll make sure WallBuilders Radio is listed there. But you can listen and most importantly, share it with your friends and family. That's how the program grows, that's how we get more truth in the hands of as many people as possible. And then, of course, wallbuilders.Show, super easy place uh to find all of those podcast apps and to just download right there from that website as well as be able to share it with your friends and family. So check it out today, wobblers.Show, or just go directly to your favorite podcast app, listen to the wallboulder Show, and share it with as many people as you possibly can. Welcome back to the Wallbooter show. Thanks for staying with us. Long setup before the break, guys. Hope y'all had all 60 seconds of our break to think about that. Let's go first, David, to your indicators. What are you gonna be looking for tomorrow night whenever we're doing the coverage over at Flashpoint and Victory News?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, when we do that coverage, obviously what we look at first, the the polls are gonna close from east going toward west. Eastern times that's gonna be the first one where we get results. Uh, then you move it into the central and then the mountain and then western. I'm not gonna be looking at Alaska for results at all because even if we count results, they they have up to more than a month later that they'll still be counting. So what we see in Alaska with with Sullivan, uh, okay, great, maybe we see something, but I'm not really counting that. But what I'm looking at first will be the statewide races. They they will have more numbers come in faster than the congressional races will. Um so I'm gonna be looking at U.S. Senate races. I I fully expect that probably in North Carolina, well, here's something to look at. If Republicans are doing really well in that Senate race in North Carolina, that is an awesome sign because the Republicans gave up on that Senate race with Watley and the U.S. Senate trying to hold that, they gave up on that a month ago. So if that comes in and it looks to be tight or close or Watley's ahead, man, that is that's that is a phenomenal sign. Also gonna be looking at New Hampshire. Nobody's paying much attention up there. But if Sununu is is winning the Senate race up there, that is another really awesome sign because that's not expected to happen. Uh those are yes.
SPEAKER_00Hey, let's add with that too. That uh you you just mentioned those are not expected to happen. If those go Democrat, that's also not an indication that it might be a bad night. That's just that would be the first the first alert, like guys. If we're outperforming here, this could be a really fun night for our side. Um, but I I I do want to caveat because if people look and go, man, you know, Watley lost by eight points, it's gonna be a terrible night. Well, not necessarily, because that's that's a place where there hasn't been a great ground game, there hasn't been uh great media and messaging. There's been
Pray, Text, And Take Action
SPEAKER_00a lot of problems in that, but that's why it would be even more impressive if you look at places where you expect to not do well. And then if it's if he loses it by two points, you're going, guys, that that's way closer than what we anticipated it might be. So this, then to your point, this could be a really good indicator that the night might be far more favorable than what uh a lot of the pundits had suggested.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's a great point, Tim, because even if it's a narrow loss, that's still way off from what the pundit suggested. I would say that Maine is another very significant one. Uh Maine, the Senate race there is one that Republicans are not supposed to win. That's supposed to be one they lose. So we'll we'll see what happens in Maine. That will be a big indicator. Um this congressional district, CD2 up in Maine, if that goes Republican, that is another big indicator. Uh you dump jump down to Georgia, Osoth is a dip Democrat there, Collins Republican. Um they stopped spending money there several weeks ago because they think the Democrats have that one wrapped up. If that one, it's like Watley, if that turns to be close, or if Collins comes out ahead in that, one that's not nobody expects, even even the Republicans out of, I think, don't expect to win that. Those are the ones I would look at first. Now, that doesn't tell me the whole nation because every state is different, but that tells me the indication of the national perspective of maybe how the tally runs for the Senate, because that's four Senate seats right there that that could have a big impact on whether Republicans keep the Senate. And I'm going to echo again something I said last week. The Senate is super important, especially because of judges. 290 federal judges appointed by Trump, confirmed by the Senate. If we lose the Senate, the good judges we've been getting who've been making just terrific decisions, reversing 60 years of liberalism and progressivism, then that becomes much tougher. And in his last two years, there's expected to be 60 to 100 federal judges. If we don't have a Senate to confirm those kind, you're going to get really big squishes out of there, and that's not what we want. So I think the East Coast is a great starting place as an indicator, although that certainly is not going to be the indicator of how the whole night goes. There could be surprises all the way going west that we didn't count on that come in our favor, or we could end up getting slapped down either way, but I think we'll know pretty quick with what happens on the East Coast.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's gonna be that's gonna be so interesting to watch. And and like you guys said, I mean, just so people know, I mean, there could be some signs early on that's gonna be an amazing night based on on those things, but some of those early races we're not expected to win. If we if if they go the other way, that doesn't mean it's gonna be a terrible night, as Tim said. Um so so talk to me about the election day, guys. What do you recommend that people do? Uh the other night on on Flashpoint, uh um Alan uh Didio was saying, everybody just do one more thing than you did before. Like whatever you did in 2024, do one more thing, make one more call, uh, go knock on a few extra doors, you know, offer to drive somebody to the poll. Just pick one extra thing. And I thought that was pretty good. So I would ask you guys, what's what's a few examples of the one more thing that people could do tomorrow on the big day?
SPEAKER_00Well, I would suggest one thing that is the obvious thing, um, but we we we can't overlook it, uh, is we have to make sure that we are spending time praying on that day, praying for God's mercy, praying for God's favor, for God's grace. Um Dad, I I think it was John Hancock, and I I am saying this, teasing it, hoping you remember. I uh we we are all kind of traveling right now. So we're recording this uh all on the road in various places uh from cars and airports and wherever. Um so I don't have my computer open, otherwise I would look this quote up. But I think it was John Hancock um who said, I urge you by all that is dear, by all that is holy, um, not just that you pray, but also that you act. And Rick, you might know that quote too. I think it was John Hancock. It was Hancock. It was indeed Hancock. So the thing that that I think is important in the midst of this is obviously we want to be people of action, but we also want to be people that are mindful and thoughtful in prayer in the midst of action. Because we know the Bible talks about that God raises up and tears down the nations and kings and kingdoms. And so we we need to be prayerful um in in what's going on. If there's sin in our life, we need to repent of things. And by the way, we probably do. We probably need to repent of sin in our life and and seek God's forgiveness, but then also seek God's grace and mercy for the nation. So I would say, first of all, pray, but also even pray that God would would reach the hearts of people that are going to the polls. You know, that there's a whole list of things you can pray for. So I would say one thing that we can't underrate is the value of prayer. But then beyond the prayer, or in as we are praying, in addition to praying, um, certainly we're gonna think it makes sense that we think about the people that um probably for many of us, we're like, hey, we know those guys are good and those guys are good and those guys are good. But I would say we need to think about the people in our mind that we feel confident in. And those are the easiest texts to send. Hey, just making sure, you know, do you have a chance to vote? Oh, I did. Okay, great. Well, remind somebody else. I would say if we can rally the already bought in troops, first of all, make sure they didn't forget because some of them, I'm gonna I'm on my way to vote now. Some of them are gonna vote on election day. Again, we know that about 50% of Republicans Show up and vote on election day. So reach out to the ones that you think are, man, on our page. And then whatever, whether you're reminding them to go vote or whether they say, hey, I've already voted, then we engage them as well. So now we are multiplying our force as we are going. So I would say reach out to the people that we're the most confident in. And then people that we think probably have some of our values or that we could encourage in some of the right value structure, then I would say reach out to some people that are maybe more unknown. So I would say pray, reach out to the known individuals, and as far as like known, as far as they're engaged and they're active and they're gonna probably already have voted and voted with biblical values, but then reach out to people that you're not sure are active. So pray, reach out to the known, then reach out to the unknown. Those are three action steps I would recommend. And then obviously, if if people are waiting to vote on election day, make sure you go vote on election day and don't wait until the end of the day. Don't think, man, I'm gonna vote on my way home. Because what happens if there's a fender bender in front of you and you have, you know, you run over junk on the highway and you have a double blowout and you can't make it in time. Don't wait and put yourself in a bad situation where you miss the opportunity. So Show up, vote early, and then reach out to the unknown and make sure we are praying. Those will be my action test.
SPEAKER_01And those are good. Those are good. All right, David, you got anything to add to those?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I would add to that. I absolutely what Tim said with Hancock is a great pairing. Pray and act. And and the calling or the texting of the people, I I would even do it in Texas and say, hey guys, make sure you vote for Kent Paxson for Senate. Taler Rico is going to do this to our kids or whatever. I'd give two or three examples, but I'd also say we know that that Paxson is going to vote for federal judges like Trump has been putting in, and they're the ones that have put prayer back in schools and Ten Commandments and that kind of stuff. So I would even I'd even be specific with some candidates, depending on the state where I am. I wouldn't count on Christians to always necessarily think through these things. But the other one that I'd I put out there for prayer deals with what we know is going on. I am really excited about some things that are happening.
Election Integrity Concerns And Prepared Narratives
SPEAKER_02I think this could be one of the more secure elections we've had in my adult lifetime. We've had 156 state laws passed since that fiasco back in 2020, and they have tightened up 156 state laws on election security that have tightened up so much, cleaned up their roles, and the states have done. Don't want to clean up their roles like California and some of the blue states. Trump has been very active out of the Justice Department saying, hey, we've identified 50,000 people in your voter rolls that are illegal. You cannot let them vote. Now, they may let them vote, but Trump's going to take action because he does have the right. The federal government does have the right with what happens on federal elections. He can't say what's going to happen with state Senate and State House and Governor. But when you're choosing U.S. Senate and U.S. House, that's something the federal government can intervene and say, California, you did not check to make sure these people are legal, and we found here 50,000 that voted. I think that's Ephesians. And that's a good thing to pray. Help people, pray for people to lay eyes on corruption if it's going on, to be able to see it and spot it and turn it in and get it acted on. And I think that's something the Holy Spirit will help with is help us uncover darkness and wickedness that's supposed to be uncovered if we'll pray that way. And so that would be the other prayer I would add is for the election integrity, because we've really done what we can do in a good sense with those 156 state laws. Now we need to see the prosecution come of those who try to corrupt those laws or circumvent those laws. And that's the other thing I'd pray for. But I'm right with him, man. Text people, and if you need to be specific, say here's how I'm voting, do that. Give them some guidance if they need it. But I think those are two really good things to do on election day is to pray and to act.
SPEAKER_00Well, guys, I'm sure y'all already saw, but Spamberger in Virginia restoring the voting rights of a dead dog. Um just it's comical how dumb some of this has gotten. And the fact that really, you know, you want to bring a legal challenge over restoring the voting rights of a dead dog. Like not like calling a person a dog. No, this is an actual canine, but it died anyway. That people can look it up if you don't know the story. But this is how silly the other side has been. So, Dad, to your point, even though the Constitution does give states the time, place, and manner of conducting elections, because these are federal elections, the federal government does have a vested interest and they can pursue legal remedies if there has been fraudulent activity. Uh, and we definitely have seen that. But also there's a reason to be encouraged because of the voter laws, guys. I think probably we have to talk about this tomorrow. We don't have time today. Uh, but did y'all see the the post from PBS? Uh, I I saw it on an X thread where they were talking about election night. Did you guys see that? No, miss it. Okay, over the weekend. Here's what they posted. If you go to bed on election night and don't know who won a midterm congressional race, that's normal. And if you wake up the next morning and find that a candidate who was behind hours earlier has since pulled ahead, that's normal too. Guys, they're it's it's like they're prepping for a psyop. They're already gaslighting people for apparently fraud they think might be coming uh based on that post. So we probably need to talk more about that tomorrow. Um, and why maybe this is another direction we can pray, but why we need to oppose some of these multi-week results before we know who won. Utterly ridiculous. But uh, that's probably a conversation for tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02And don't anybody take what Tim said and say, see, elections are rigged, I'm not gonna vote. No, no, no, no, no. No, that God holds you accountable for what you do, he'll hold them accountable for what they do. Don't ever take a supposed conspiracy as a reason not to go do what you're supposed
Tools, Voter Guides, And Final Charge
SPEAKER_02to do. You answer to God for what you do, he'll take care of those that don't do that, but you do your part.
SPEAKER_01Duty is ours, results are God's lots of duty to do tomorrow, folks. iVoterguide.com, Christian VoterGuy.com, get on those websites, look up your races. And for those of you in Texas, a special announcement, you should go to Abbottimpact.org forward slash app, download that app today, and then it's so easy. Yeah, I did it for the first time over the last few days. I've never done this before, but this was my one more thing. You just quickly text your friends and family that have not voted yet, because it'll tell you if they early voted or not, if they're in your phone, and you can text them and say, hey, don't forget to vote today. Uh or don't forget to vote tomorrow. That's what I'm going to be doing all day today, is sending those texts out to people uh that have not voted yet. So, anyway, two tools for you. Christian VoterGuide.com, get that voter guide, share with your friends and family. And then for those of you in Texas, because that race is so important, uh uh the governor there created this tool and everybody gets to use it, abbtimpact.org forward slash app. Go use that tool, let your friends know to vote. Thanks so much for listening. You've been listening to the WallBuilders show.
