The WallBuilders Show

Churches, Politics, and Cultural Pressures - with John Amanchukwu

Tim Barton, David Barton & Rick Green

What role should pastors play in modern society? Pastor John Amanchukwu joins us to tackle this question head-on, sharing his bold efforts to combat inappropriate materials in school libraries and stand up to school boards. Pastor John’s unwavering commitment to parental rights in education is just the beginning. We also dive into his new book, "Hoodwinked," which addresses the issue of wokeness from a biblical and historical perspective, echoing the bravery of the Black-Robed Regiment from early American history.

We don’t shy away from the hard truths as we discuss the historical voting patterns of Black households and the significant shifts influenced by policies from FDR to LBJ. Examine the deep impacts of the Great Society plan and Roe v. Wade on the Black community, and why traditional values like faith, family, and education are more crucial than ever. The conversation critiques churches that have succumbed to cultural pressures and calls for a resurgence of strong, scripture-based leadership. Pastor John and our discussion serve as a powerful reminder for the church to engage in politics and culture with unwavering conviction. Tune in for a thought-provoking conversation that encourages bold action and steadfast leadership.

Welcome to the Intersection of Faith and Culture. It's the Wall Builders Show, where we take on the hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical and constitutional perspective. I'm Rick Green here with David and Tim Barton. You can learn more about us at our website, wallbuilders.com. That's wallbuilder.scom. That's our main site, and then wallbuilders.show for archives of the program over the last few weeks and months, so you can catch up right there at wallbuilders.show.

David and Tim I love John Amanchukwu, not only because he has the coolest last name, uh, of anybody we've had on the program ever, I think, but also because, man, he brings the heat and, uh, super excited to have him actually speaking doing the charge at the Patriot Academy campus next week for our very first Leadership Congress on the campus. As you guys taught me, a long time ago, legislative sessions had pastors come in and open up those legislative sessions for a long time, and so we made that a tradition when we started Patriot Academy 20 years ago, and this year it'll be Pastor John Amachuku doing the charge. And Tim, you had a chance to visit with him recently.

Tim Barton

I did, and it's actually funny too, talking to a pastor who's been arrested on multiple occasions for inappropriate material. That actually is him just reading books that schools are giving to kids or having in their libraries and he takes them to these school board meetings. Says, guys, this is crazy what you are putting in front of our kids. Let me let me read you one of the books from your library, let me read you one of the books that is assigned reading. And I mean it's just crazy. But he is one of the guys who is finally showing backbone and courage. He's one of the guys that, as we look back in American history and some of the early pastors that were involved that the British gave this kind of moniker or nickname the Black-robed Regiment he would have been one of those guys in early America that boldly, courageously, was standing up and, as a pastor, showing spiritually this is how you lead the way in love, speaking the truth and, especially, doing it for the sake of kids.

As we look at things going on right now, like California, where they just signed the bill that removes any kind of requirement from the school teacher, anybody in education to notify the parent of a child going through some kind of gender pronoun change, so the kids can go to school, be a different person, and the school has no obligation to tell the parent. In fact, the parent can't demand any of that. We are seeing the removal of parental rights, and so having a pastor with the courage and boldness to step forward, address these issues and challenge other Christians to do the same, it is quite refreshing and encouraging. And he actually has a new book out where he addresses some of the wokeness, giving a biblical historical perspective, which is exactly what we try to do, and so we thought, man, we got to have him on. Let's talk about some of this, get into his book and see some of the history and the biblical truth he presents in it.

Rick Green

All right. Well, John will be with us when we return. Stay with us. You're listening to the WallBuilders Show.

Tim Barton

Welcome back to the Wall Builder Show. This is Tim Barton, and we are joined with one of our heroes, one of those pastor warriors out there standing up with courage and boldness on the front lines, making a difference, one of the guys that, in early American history, would have been part of what we knew as a black robed regiment. John,. Thank you so much for being with us today. Thank you so much for being with us today.

John Amanchukwu

Thank you so much for having me on your show.

Tim Barton

And I'm already going to apologize if I messed up your last name. I tried really hard, but people are going to know who you are either way. They've seen you all over social media, at school board meetings, taking a stand. And, pastor John, you have been doing what. And, pastor John, you have been doing what, honestly, we feel like the majority of pastors should be doing as believers, when Jesus said so clearly except for the little children coming to me, do not hinder them. When he talked about that, it would be better for you to tie a millstone around your neck, be thrown in the sea and cause a little one to stumble. And yet we haven't seen all that many pastors and Christians standing up like you have, and I say that only as a preference to say we're so grateful for what you're doing. And then that's a side note from why we asked you to be on you have a new book coming out and we definitely want to dive into the new book. It's called Hoodwinked: 10 Lies Americans Believe and a Truth that Will Set them Free. So, pastor John, will you walk us through? Where have we been hoodwinked?

John Amanchukwu

Well, first and foremost, the title Hoodwinked is one that is rather antiquated and old bogey it's not a sexy term. However, it means to be beyond blindfolded, to the point that you can't see any light, and that's where the American culture is today. We have people who are walking around with hoods on. We have people who are walking around with hoods on. They can't see, and the Bible tells us woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness. Today, left has become right, right has become left, up has become down and down has become up. Boys have become girls and girls have become boys. Boys have become girls and girls have become boys, and we've gone as far to believe that a clump of sales is, that people like to liken that and say that a baby is just a clump of sales and the baby is not a viable life, and so we are in a slippery slope in our culture, and so this book addresses many of those issues. First and foremost, it talks about the lie that America is a racist nation. Now, let me be the first to tell you that this can be easily dispelled by looking at the border crisis. Take a look at that, when you consider the number of black and brown and tan immigrants that are fighting to get into this country versus those that are getting out, one has to say how come foreigners aren't getting the message that America is a racist nation? Now let's talk about some stats. The study shows from the Pew Research Center that there are 4.6 million black immigrants living in the US today and by 2060, that number is supposed to balloon to nearly 9.5 million black immigrants. The word is not getting to the black, brown and tan immigrants that America is a racist nation. They want to come to this country. They want to experience life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They want to experience life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They want the blessedness of a nation that was founded upon Judeo-Christian principles. They want to live in a nation that's considered to be the apple of God's eye. You know, when you consider the American dream and the American concept, the American idea, it's one that benefits all nationalities, creeds and backgrounds, not just whites.

We can talk about economics when we talk about this issue as well, with America being a so-called racist nation. Why is it that? I believe it is, Asians hold the highest median income in America and not whites? Indians have the high they're the top income earners in America and not whites.

The issue at hand is this Democrats want to convince blacks that America is a racist nation so that we hate our constitutional republic, so that we hate the God of the Bible, who they say is a white God Right, so that we hate our flag and so that we ultimately hate freedom. This is why this notion is being pushed upon blacks. I say this all the time that blacks have become the cheap prostitutes of the Democrat Party and we keep coming back for more. But that trend is slowly but surely being broken. When you look at the current election numbers, president Trump in 2020 received nearly 9% of the black vote. According to a CNN study, he's trending around 22% right now. I'm going to do everything in my power to move that number to 25%, 30%, 40% and maybe, one day before the rapture comes, we'll be at 51%, signifying that there are more Blacks voting for Republican candidates than any other political party.

Tim Barton

Boy and John if I can back up historically than any other political party. Boy and John, if I can back up historically, you know it's so interesting For people that study history and know the history of the Republican Party, the history of Reconstruction and really the history of Black Americans engaging in the process. At the time of Dwight Eisenhower the majority of Black households were still voting Republican. Of course some of that changed under FDR, some of that changed under Herbert Hoover and there was some traction going the pro-Democrat direction. But then when LBJ comes in his war on poverty so much that he does he really starts trying to buy the votes of individuals, votes of individuals. But I bring up Eisenhower because it wasn't that long ago that the majority of Black Americans were still voting Republican, because the majority of Black Americans still held to traditional values and they weren't buying the much more secularized version of politics that Democrats were selling.

John Amanchukwu

So true. And what were those values? Faith politics that Democrats were selling, so true. And what were those values? Faith, family and education, void of special interests. You know, and you're so right LBJ, through his great society plan, created a way to get the black man out of the home and replace him with a 300 to 400 dollar check. They're making, then making government God and government daddy, and so many black homes bought into that.

And then eugenics past 64 and then you get to 68. And by the time 73 comes this evil witch by the name of Margaret Sanger. She's pushing her agenda and we see the inception of Roe v Wade. She's pushing her agenda and we we see the inception of Roe v Wade. And so whether whether the black baby  is being denied its privileges of having two parents in the home by the government incentivizing the single parent family. The baby is then potentially killed in the womb. And so there has been a strategic plan that the Democrat Party is to blame for, that is responsible for the deconstruction of the black community. The Democrat Party has destroyed the black community and it's time for us to destroy the Democrat Party.

Tim Barton

Those are powerful words. I love it. I also know that in your book you get into the church and whether it's essential, and the Bible about whether or not it's political, and it just makes me think. As you're saying, you know the Democrat engagement and what they've done to destroy the black family. I mean we're seeing a lot of seminaries embracing the wokeness. We're seeing a lot of Christians and churches believing that wait a second, the church should just do whatever the government says. If the government says close down, they should close down. Even if Home Depot and Lowe's is open, right, even if Walmart's open, the church we have to submit to governing authority or the Bible not being political. There's so many more of these lies that I know you cover, so I want to toss it back to you that it seems like so many Christians are buying into. It's not what the Bible says and yet Christians are buying into some of these false narratives.

John Amanchukwu

So true. You know, there are people who would tell you today that the church has no role or responsibility in politics. That's a big lie. I believe that the Bible is a biblical political document. If you think that the Bible isn't political, you have just told me that you don't know the scriptures. When you consider a man named Elijah, who went into King Ahab and told him there'll be no dew nor rain until I say so, and for three and a half years God backed up his words and a drought came to the land. That was a spiritual leader going into the political realm and projecting dominance amongst his kingship, the kingship of Ahab. That is Now, when you see these things, one has to say why are people trying to convince the church that the church has no role in politics? Well, if the church doesn't engage the culture, then the culture will engage the church. If the church doesn't engage the culture, then the culture will begin to tell the church what thus saith the culture rather than what thus saith the Lord. And so, with that in mind, many churches today are not being led and governed by this book. They are being led and governed by what the culture says is acceptable. The culture begins to draw the roadmap of our pedagogy and what we should be teaching and ministering, to the point that pastors are so neutered. Pastors are so neutered, so soft, so spineless, so weak that they are afraid to regurgitate and parrot what the Bible has said. We're even at a point today where sheep are starting to lead shepherds.

Let me say that again, the sheep are leading shepherds. Do you know that it's oftentimes more easy for me to find a young lady or an older lady at a church who is willing to come with me to a school board meeting versus a shepherd, because the shepherd says well, a shepherd because the shepherd says well. I don't know if I should really read from a pornographic book at a school board meeting, john, that might be just too vulgar. But oftentimes the sheep say yes, where is the hill, where is the mountain? I'm in this way. Weak pulpits create weak Christians. Yeah, why is the Christian church so weak and brittle today? It's because they are receiving a steady diet of chicken soup for the soul sermons. They're hearing the Mary had a little lamb sermons on Sunday morning and they're not being built up on their most holy faith. Do you not know and I know you know this, but to your audience, when you consume the word of God as your steady diet, as you meditate upon the word of God, there is a strength that you gain. The word of God, there is a strength that you gain. There is a power that exudes in the life of an individual who has a steady diet of God's word. Why? Because these words are breathed out by almighty. God, hear me. The Bible is more current than tomorrow's newspaper. It's the best-selling book of all time, it's the most stolen book of all time and it's the most misquoted book of all time as well. This book gives us the true clarity to know that the church should not sit out on the upcoming election. No, we'll be derelict of our duties if we do that. The role of the church is to get down to the polls. Stop being soft and vote for the political party that closely aligns to the word of God, in other words, vote biblical values. I even talk about in my new book this big lie that being against abortion is a white evangelical worldview. In other words, blacks are being told that, hey, if you're pro-life, then you must be white.

About three years ago, I was at one of the busiest abortion clinics in the Southeast. It's called a Woman's Choice Clinic of Raleigh, and I encountered a father there and he told me something that I will never forget. On that Saturday, 70% of the people outside of the abortion clinic were white, but nearly 80% of the people in the abortion clinic on that Saturday were black, prepared to abort their babies. And this black father walks up to me, knowing that his black girlfriend is getting ready to abort his posterity. He walks up to me knowing that his black girlfriend is getting ready to abort his posterity. He walks up to me and says why are you out here fighting a white man's issue? Wow, now I was taken aback when that took place because I'm saying to myself man, this guy probably doesn't even know what critical race theory is, but he's a walking poster child for CRT, because in CRT they see racism in all things and in all places, even when a black man is trying to save babies of all colors and creeds at an abortion clinic.

Tim Barton

Yeah

John Amanchukwu

Hear me, being pro-life is not a white evangelical worldview, it's a biblical worldview. God gave us this thing called the 10 commandments, and number six says thou shall not murder. Proverbs, chapter six, verses 16, through 19, references seven things that God calls abominable, one of which is the shedding of innocent blood. And then we have men who are hypocrites and heretical, like Raphael Warnock, who says that he's a pro-choice pastor. Hear me, there's no such thing as a pro-choice Christian or a pro-choice pastor. There is no gray area when it comes to the sanctity of life, is no great area when it comes to the sanctity of life. Nor have I found, Tim,  in the word of God from Genesis to Revelations. Any exemptions? Yeah, there are no exemptions.

Tim Barton

No, it sounds much more like in Matthew seven, where Jesus said many will come to me that day and say Lord, lord, we knew you. And he says depart from me, I don't even know who you are. Only those who do the will of my father shall inherit the kingdom of heaven. And so to your point. Yeah, the idea that we're going to profess to be Christians but our works are going to reject. I mean, go read the book of James, right, real quick, because you're saying you have faith. But when your works are contrary to the works of God, when your works are as Jesus talked about, that they are of your father the devil, that, as Jesus talked about, that they're of your father the devil, that these are not the works of light. And the works of light man. It's so good and we're running short on time, but in your book, the very title it's Hoodwinked 10 Lies.

Americans Believe. But here's where I want to focus the last few seconds before we have to go is the truth that will set them free. So you don't just identify some of the major problems in the nation, although those are worth talking about. You offer the solution, and I recognize the verse we're referencing. But what is the solution. Where do we find freedom in our culture?

John Amanchukwu

The Bible says that God's truth endures to all generation. We don't need a Gen Z or millennial or a baby boomer gospel. We just need God's word from start to finish, from the beginning to the end, from Genesis to Revelations. The hope for America is not in a donkey and is not in an elephant. It's in the breathe out infallible word of God Amen. That is unchangeable because we are closed canon preachers.

Tim Barton

That is so good. Okay, so everybody, you need to get the book Hoodwinked 10 Lies Americans Believe and the Truth that Will Set them Free. You can find Pastor John all over social media. But, pastor, if people want to get the book and if they want to follow you, where's the best place to get the book? Where's the best place for them to follow you?

John Amanchukwu

Go to iknowgod.us and you can follow me there. All of my handles are there. And then, if you want to get a copy of the book, go to Amazon. Amazon owns nearly 80% of the market, so pray for Amazon, but purchase a book.

Tim Barton

I love it. Pastor John, thank you for what you are doing. Thank you for writing this book.

It is so culturally relevant and thank you for taking time to be with us today. We sure appreciate you.

John Amanchukwu

Thank you, God bless.

Tim Barton

All right, we'll be right back in just a moment with David Barton and Rick Green

Break

Rick Green

Welcome back to the Wall Builder Show. Thanks for staying with us. Welcome back to the WallBuilders Show. Thanks for staying with us. And thanks to John Amanchukwu for joining us. And be sure, and check out his book and also just follow him on social media. All of these viral videos where he's speaking in front of these school boards just good stuff, man. It's waking up people all over the country.

David Barton

Man. He had so many good one-liners in there and, Tim, when you're talking to him you mentioned that he's doing what pastors should be doing and it's kind of like, okay, on what basis? So I'm going to go to John 10, where Jesus says the shepherd of the flock sees the danger coming and throws himself in front of the danger, whether it's a lion or bear or whatever. And we're finding that most pastors today do not throw themselves in front of the danger coming to their congregation. They do not throw themselves in front of the danger coming to their congregation.

Barnett has found that only 2.8% of today's pastors are addressing things that are going on in the culture. So really most people are not getting equipped and engaged. But he has so many good points. Only he could say this LBJ got the black man out of the home and replaced him with a check, and Democrats are still getting men out of the home with LGBTQIA plus and all their other stuff and they're destroying the traditional black family through their programs. Nobody's talking about that, but that is uncontested reality. Then he talked about if the church doesn't engage the culture, the culture will engage the church, and that's exactly right. And when you look at the church and where it is today, the culture is whipping the church. You know, Jesus told Peter on this rock I'll build my church and nothing will prevail against it. Well, right now, the culture is prevailing against the church. We need a lot more pastors like John A I'm not even going to try to pronounce his last name- Rick, you and Tim seem to have that done pretty well.

Yeah, but I say it different every time, right?

It's a little bit different every time, that's good. So spelling pronunciation was not your course in high school, apparently. That's right. I'm with you, bro. I'm not even going to try, but I do appreciate his boldness, and this is the kind of stuff that does need to characterize the pulpit. The pulpit needs to be calling out what's right, what's wrong, pointing that out, addressing that they need to be the shepherds that throw themselves between the danger and the flock, and that's not happening near enough now.

Tim Barton

And definitely get on amazon.com and get that book, as he goes through a lot of this. So it's something that I'm going to get and definitely encourage everybody else go get that book, as he lays out these different ideas and action items, so really good stuff.

Rick Green

Well, and David, as you said, man, pastors, be bold. Out there, people are hungry for that too. I mean, we have people ask us all the time where's the church I can go to, where's a pastor that is bold, that's speaking out, that's standing in the gap, that's not shying away from these big issues out there? And so anytime we can highlight a pastor that's doing that, we are glad to do it. Thanks so much for joining us today. You've been listening to the WallBuilders Show.
